Jio Prime vs Airtel vs Vodafone vs Idea: Which one is the best?

Reliance Jio is undoubtedly the fastest growing telecom operator in India. Within 170 days, it managed to reach the milestone of 100 million users. It’s Reliance Jio that’s managed to make it affordable for everyone. India got used to using free Internet with Jio.

But now the company has announced Jio Prime membership which brings certain data benefits compared to the usual plan. For instance, the Rs 303 plan with a validity of 28 days offers 1GB of 4G data per day, as highlighted by Reliance Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani during his speech. But as good as it sounds, it comes with a catch.

After the announcement of the same, many other telecom operators like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, also announced their new plans. So, today, let’s have a look at the same and see which one is the best for you.

Jio Prime vs Airtel vs Vodafone vs Idea

Validity

All of these network providers have plans valid for 28 days.

Pricing

Starting off with the pricing, the cheapest one here is Reliance Jio, coming in at Rs 303, followed by Vodafone, Idea and Airtel costing Rs 346, 348 and 349 respectively. But even though Jio here is the cheapest, you first have to pay an amount of Rs 99 to upgrade to Jio Prime Subscription. The validity of the same is 1 year.

Calling

While calling is free on all the networks, Vodafone has a FUP of 300 minutes/day and 1200 minutes/week.

Data

Reliance Jio Prime offers 28GB of 4G VoLTE data wherein you get a limit of 1GB/day and after that unlimited data with speed up to 128kb/s.

Airtel also provides you with 28GB of 4G LTE data wherein you get a limit of 1GB/day. But the catch here is, you get 0.5GB limit in the day and 0.5GB limit in the night (3am-5am).

Vodafone also provides you with 28GB of 4G LTE data wherein you get a limit of 1GB/day. But this time around, once you’ve surpassed 1GB data, the balance will be deducted from your account @ Rs 4000/GB.

Idea is providing the least data of the rest, coming in at 14GB. You get 0.5GB/day at 4G LTE and once you’ve surpassed that, the balance will be deducted from your account @ Rs 4000/GB.

Special Benefits

When it comes to Special Benefits, only Jio Prime and Vodafone are providing them, wherein Jio is offering 5GB of additional data if you recharge before 31st March 2017. When it comes to Vodafone, they are providing double data double benefits to users on their first payment before 15th March 2017.

Conclusion

All the plans seem good enough except for Idea, considering the low data limit compared to others. On paper, Jio Prime seems to be the most bang for your buck option but considering it’s terrible service, Vodafone and Airtel are tough competitors. We still face a lot of network issues, call drops and slower speeds (sometimes not even 60Kbps) with Reliance Jio. On the other hand, Airtel and Vodafone have got pretty good 4G speeds and there’s nothing as such if we talk about call drops.
